Shortly after 10 a.m on July 5th police arrived to the Chief Lake Road area. Once there they encountered a strange sight, an upside-down excavator which had been engulfed in flames. After putting on their investigative glasses, they realized that before being set alight the excavator had been used to destroy a nearby rock truck which was also subsequently incinerated.
This nocturnal visit left more than one million dollars in damages. The forces of order report that this occurred at a mine, but fail to mention which one. The only major operational mine in the area is Mount Milligan Mine, which extracts cooper and gold. There are, however, two notable proposed mines—the Angus Project, which aims to produce Silica for the expansion of fracking in the region, and the Black Water Gold Mine, which could become one of Canada’s largest gold mine. We hope all these sites continue to meet the fury of determined individuals.
